Learn why not to throw your food away in the trash and what to do with the food instead.
Compost your food instead of throwing it away. By composting waste whether that be food scraps or old left overs you find in the back of the refrigerator we can eliminate a significant amount going into landfills. Also by using food waste and other plant materials we can create quality organic soil.
When plant material breaks down in landfills it breaks down anaerobically which creates methane which is trapped or released. Methane is one of, if not the biggest, greenhouse gas that contributes to the rise of global temperatures.
When composting, the plant material breaks down aerobically and creates carbon dioxide, which is a much less harmful greenhouse gas. It is what we breathe out and plants breathe in for life and in return plants breathe out oxygen which is what we breath in for life. More than that when you compost especially in the ground you are feeding and bringing to life many organisms that digest the plant material and turn it into nutrient dense soil. It is a beautiful cycle and I am going to layout how I compost. It is super easy!
